Caveats, Rules, and Other Pertinent Information

In the interest of the safety and enjoyment of all of our guests, please read through the following reminders and considerations regarding the wedding venue and event. Thanks.

1. The wedding is a strictly non-smoking event.

2. If you stay on into the evening, please bring a flashlight so you can safely make your way back out of the Sanctuary and across the bridge to your car.

3. Please read the section regarding toilets and water use on the Venue Guidelines page. We must be very conservative with our water use. All guests, except for the mothers and grandmothers of the bride and groom, are requested to use the outdoor composting toilet on the day of the wedding.

4. Please carpool whenever possible. Parking space is very limited. See the FAQ.

5. Wear comfortable shoes. From the parking area (which is just a gravel dirt road), you will proceed across the bridge, up the path, and into the Sanctuary. Although there is a beautiful deck at the lodge, most of the time you will be walking on grassy earth.

6. The reception will be at the Sanctuary immediately following the wedding ceremony. We will have a variety of catered hors d'oeuvres with beverages, but no big sit-down dinner. Wine and beer will be served. If you want liquor, please feel free to bring your own. See the Local Area page for suggestions on other places to dine during your stay in the Asheville/Weaverville area.

7. You will be driving through a peaceful, but
conservative and law-abiding area of North Carolina mountains. Make sure you keep an eye on your alcohol consumption and observe the local speed limits.

8. We will be partying and celebrating during the late afternoon after the ceremony, with the possibility of spontaneous music, dancing, and general revelry always present! But after sundown, we need to keep the noise down.

9. Please review item #1. If you must smoke, please step outside the front gate and smoke down by the bridge. Dispose of cigarette butts properly. Thanks.
